French philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, biblical commentator and talmudist. He was born at Bagnols-sur-Ceze, and lived in Orange and Avignon. His
Milhamot Adonai deals with the imortality of the soul, prophecy, omnipotence, providence, astronomy, creation and miracles. He also wrote a study of the 13 hermeneutical rules of Rabbi
Ishmael, and works on arithmetic, geometry, harmonic numbers and trigonometry. In addition he produced commentaries on Aristotle, Averroes and the Bible.
